Red Wing Shoes

GODS OF FOOTWEAR

In Grecian mythology there’s a God by the name of Hermes. Hermes, the messenger god, was gifted a pair of magical winged sandals that allowed him to fly. We don’t mean to brag, but, that was our craftsmanship, the original Red Wing Shoe.

How come Hermes gets to be the only one with magic shoes? Well, he doesn’t. Introducing a new line of boots: The Gods and Goddesses Collection. This new line will be inspired by deities from Greek mythology. The initial lineup will consist of hunting/hiking boots inspired by Artemis the Hunter and her twin brother Apollo the Archer, and steel-toed work boots inspired by Hephaestus the Blacksmith.

Gods and Goddesses

Red Wing x Birkenstock

United by a shared passion for leatherworking, we are collaborating with Birkenstock to create a new strapped sandal with a subtle winged flair and athletic capabilities, mimicking the style of ancient Grecian sandals.

Odyssey of Red Wing - Podcast

Red Wing Shoes will be launching a Spotify podcast that covers all of the stories from Greek mythology starting with Prometheus and the theft of fire from Hephaestus, one of the Gods representing our new signature shoe.

Graffiti Sprawl

No, we can’t enlist the help of the elusive Banksy, however Red Wing Shoes is commissioning local artists, in the spirit of the Golden Age of art in Greece, to paint Gods and Goddesses, wearing Red Wing shoes, across walls in the iconic cities of Boston, New York City, Denver, Miami, and of course at our headquarters in Red Wing, Minnesota.

#GreekEmpire

Capitalizing off the recent success of the ‘Roman Empire’ trend, Red Wing Shoes will launch its own viral hashtag, ‘Greek Empire’. The prompt will encourage people to ask their significant other how often they really think of the Greek Empire and its mythologies.
